Welcome to my blog. As it stands today, it’s simply a more organized version of my journal over the yearlong sabbatical following my time in startups. In 5 years, I went from a sales rep for a 50 person startup with under $1M in revenue to head of revenue operations and strategy for a startup of 500, and over $100M in revenue, working with a team who I’d only read about in the newspaper not too long ago.
Before tech startups, I held a lot of different jobs; from managing a Black Hair shop / African American beauty supplies store, which was the family business growing up, to riding ambulances as an EMT, to teaching at various universities the classes most students detested, to helping the children of 1%-ers get into top Medical, Law, and Business schools.
The first few posts contain recent reflections and observations of inefficiencies in the VC-backed tech startup model, and after that I’m unsure at time this what direction I’ll take it. I suppose this is mostly to get things down on paper for my own sake, but if you find something interesting or frustrating, reach out to me.
